Empowering communities through Village Saving.

At Mbajja Foundation, we believe in the power of equipping communities to start their own income generating projects for sustainability. By experience, we have to come to learn that handouts do not give long lasting solutions to poverty and that is why we ensure that everything we do is a handup and a catalyst for people to design and work their way out of poverty.

It is from this background that we mobilise communities into Village Savings and Lending Groups to raise their own resources and start income generating projects.

As of today, we have started 3 VSLAs in three communities of Kakoma, Kyazanga Town and Lyakibirizi in Lwengo district that currently serve 90 members of which more 90% are women. Because of this, members have been to borrow from the groups and start own businesses such as retail shops, farming projects among others. Members are now able to provide basic needs and their standards of living are starting to improve.
